The Healing Power of a Gentle Touch

Whole Body Therapeutic Center

Myofascial Release

The body is covered in a continuous three-dementional web from head to toe called fascia. This tough connective tissue can be compromised and restricted by trauma, posture or inflammation which causes a binding down putting pressure on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, osseous structures and/or organs. Myofascial technique consists of gentle application of sustained pressure into the fascial restriction which allows the viscoelastic tissue to elongate and release restriction in the body. Myofascial release helps improve back pain, cervical pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, head trauma, carpel tunnel, scoliosis, restricted motion and more.

What is it?

Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption. Trauma, posture or inflammation can create a binding down of fascia resulting in excessive pressure on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, osseous structures and/or organs.

What can I expect?

First the therapist evaluates your body posture to find fascial restrictions in order to plan for your treatment. The myofascial release technique consists of gentle application of sustained pressure into the fascial restriction for approximately 1-5 minutes for each technique. Several applications to different regions of the body are applied to elongate and release the restriction noted at the evaluation part of your session. At the end of your session, you will be re-evaluated for changes that took place.

How many sessions does it take?

Each person's situation is different, the number of visits will vary.

How long is a session?

Normally your first session is 1 1/2 hours, then additional sessions are 1 full hour. Every plan is taylored to meet your specific needs.
